GOOD NEWS! Kinda… Sparging is a very important part in the brewing process, and probably one of the most mundane. Yes you do get to stand over some delicious smelling wort and just soak up the aromas. But the continual motions of draining and pouring and draining and pouring and draining and pouring and draining and pouring… until you get some clean wort is about as fun as reading that last sentence I wrote.
Being that I want to make sure my wort is good and clear before heading over to the boil, I usually spend quite a bit of time on this. But did you know that if you do TOO MUCH sparging you risk the flavors of your final brew?! Yep. The continual method of sparging can lead to attenuation due to going outside the required PH range for your recipe.
Yet just another one of the millions of items that can destroy your delicious brew.
